Harry Mazer was born May 31, 1925, in New York City, the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants. He worked in factories for 10 years, served in the Army during WWII, and became a full-time writer in 1963. He feels he had a difficult time learning to write well, and credits his writer wife, Norma Fox Mazer, for helping and encouraging him.
